YOGA TEMPLE: Embodying the Healing Grace of Yoga
Workshop #2 of three this Sunday from Noon to 1:30. Register at mottoyoga.com
WHAT? An integrative workshop series to integrate Christian and yogic thought / tradition.
These workshops offer ways for participants to experiment with yoga as an embodiment of spirituality. Elements of the workshop will include presentation with scripture and compare / contrast of spiritual traditions, pranayama, asana, music, experimental movement. and mindful sitting.
WHY? Address spiritual questions regarding yoga.
WHO? Anyone with interest in spirituality and yoga.
RATIONALE: Yoga tends to stir up spiritual consciousness and that can be frightening, but it doesn’t have to be. Yoga is an effective vehicle for teaching the yogi how to embody the Christian Scripture in a way that the Christian church has not.
In church worship settings, devotees stand, kneel, or sit in chairs. In rare cases there’s movement beyond standing or sitting but not very often. We can’t know Scripture in our bones – embody it – if our physical bodies are not involved.
Session 2: “What is Truth?” Pilate posed this question to Jesus, but yoga poses this question to each of us and brings us to address truth by providing space for silence, stillness, and honesty with challenge. What really happens during a “pose?”
Sunday Noon to 1:30 at MOTTO YOGA 7529 S. Power Rd. Queen Creek, AZ.
